My Start
Initially driven to the Light.
Then journeying with the memory of what was given.
The following pages are my works on canvas and paper with multimedia including acrylics, pastels, cray-pas and prints. My interests in art were jump started by an embossed book of the Impressionists from Aunt 'Nell. Stimulated by the Impressionist works of Van Gogh and then Cezanne. Following was the Expressionists, Gorky, Kandinsky, his writing of Der Blaue Reiter and also the works of Paul Klee. The Russian Suprematists and the works of Piet Mondrian and the counter compostions of Theo Van Doesburg developed my interests in the plastic value of painting. Ad Reinhardt, Joseph Albers and others from the Bauhaus then rounded out my perspective in the arts. Iconically, filmmaker Larry Jordans introduction to me of "Mothlight" by filmmaker Stan Brackage left an indelible imprint. However, from the first works to now, the guiding search was to align with a priori knowledge. Along with my focus of the visual arts, it is the many musicians and recording artists, such as Cecil Taylor, which have propelled my focus in the experimentation and expression of the visual arts.
